IE Weldon Secondary School students from the Practical, Academic, and Life Skills classes teamed up with Residents at the Extendicare in Lindsay to show them how to use an iPad. This experience provides students with a purposeful opportunity to show others what they have learned, and it provides the residents with new learning opportunities as well. Further, it provides both groups with some exposure to a different generation and an opportunity to connect and make new friends.
This partnership was made possible through Mrs. Edmonstone and Mrs. Gawley, and funding from the Project Enhancement Funds from TLDSB.
Dylan, a PALS student said, “I helped them learn, but I also learned a lot. I’m not used to working with older people, just kids. So that’s something I took away from this experience.”
